Why a Giraffe? The Heart Behind the Lacoa Logo
My mother was beautiful—tall, elegant, fashionable, and someone who always spoke from the heart. She is the reason I play tennis and the reason I created my clothing line. She introduced me to the sport when I was ten, taking me to every practice, tournament, and to her own matches and social gatherings. Tennis was our world.
In 2001, she was diagnosed with cancer. One of my strongest memories is the courage with which she faced her battle, often using tennis as her escape. After chemo sessions, she would ask to stop by our local tennis club, where her friends—wearing headbands to show their support due to her hair loss—waited to cheer her on. My mom never let cancer change her essence. She remained positive, outgoing, vivacious, a true tennis lover, and above all, a devoted mother and wife.
I lost her in 2005, and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her or wish she could see her two beautiful grandchildren grow.
Every Lacoa print is colorful, joyful, and full of personality—because that’s who she was. And those values—beauty, resilience, authenticity, and joy—are the heart of this brand.
The giraffe—beautiful, tall, and elegant—is the symbol that keeps her spirit close to me in every piece.
